Missing British Businessman Campbell Scott Found Dead in Kenya: Murder Investigation Underway

In a tragic turn of events, the body of Campbell Scott, a 58-year-old British businessman and senior director at data analytics firm FICO, was discovered in Kenya after he was reported missing during a business trip to Nairobi. Scott had traveled to the Kenyan capital to attend a three-day conference organized by TransUnion at the JW Marriott Hotel. He was last seen on February 16, 2025, leaving his hotel in the Westlands area.

Discovery and Investigation

On February 22, herders found Scott’s body in a sack in the Makongo forest, approximately 60 miles southeast of Nairobi. Preliminary investigations suggest that he was strangled. In connection with his death, Kenyan authorities have arrested two individuals: a taxi driver and a waiter from a local nightclub. These arrests followed a review of CCTV footage showing Scott leaving his hotel with an unidentified man before entering a vehicle.

Circumstances Surrounding the Disappearance

Before his disappearance, Scott was reportedly seen in Nairobi’s Westlands area and later in the Pipeline neighborhood, one of the city’s largest informal settlements. Authorities suspect that he was abducted, tortured, and murdered as part of an extortion scheme. The investigation is ongoing, with local law enforcement collaborating with the UK High Commission in Nairobi and Interpol to uncover further details.

Company and Official Responses

FICO, the company where Scott served as a senior director, has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their colleague. The UK Foreign Office has stated that they are supporting Scott’s family during this difficult time and are in close contact with Kenyan authorities to assist with the investigation.

Ongoing Investigation

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with pertinent information to come forward. The tragic death of Campbell Scott has not only shocked the business community but also highlighted concerns regarding the safety of foreign nationals in Kenya. Ensuring justice for Scott and his family remains a priority for both Kenyan and British officials.
