olice arrest seven suspected burglars in A’Ibom


 The Akwa Ibom Police Command has apprehended seven suspects allegedly involved in a notorious burglary syndicate operating in Ifa Atai Village, Uyo metropolis.

This was disclosed in a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Timfon John, on Thursday in Uyo.

According to John, on Wednesday, May 21, at approximately 8 a.m., acting on credible intelligence, the police arrested a male suspect residing in Ibiaku Ishiet Village, Uruan Local Government Area.

During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to participating in multiple house burglaries in Ifa Atai Village and surrounding areas alongside his gang members.

Further investigations led to the arrest of six additional suspects suspected of receiving stolen goods.

John revealed that the primary suspect also admitted membership of the Mafia secret cult group and provided names of fellow cult members.

A search of the suspects’ residences resulted in the recovery of a generator, several iron rods, eight solar batteries, and quantities of nails and binding wires.

The police spokesperson confirmed that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate.

She reiterated the Akwa Ibom Police Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property within the state.
