Igbo Woman St^bbed To De@th In Ogun State For Refusal To Pay ₦1,500 Salah Tax.
Igbo traders in Ifo, Ogun State, have closed their businesses in protest over the fatal st^bbing of an Igbo woman, Blessing Eze (Mrs.), a mother of two.
The incident occurred when touts demanded a ₦1,500 tax from traders in celebration of the Eid al-Fitr festival. When they approached Mrs. Eze, she explained that she had no money at the time, asking them to return later. The touts then began destroying her goods, leading to a confrontation that resulted in one of them st^bbing her in the chest, ultimately causing her de@th.
In solidarity and mourning, the Igbo Market Union at Ifo market has shut down businesses for four days, declaring a period of protest until the relevant authorities, particularly the State Government, intervene.
A trader who gave his name as Chief Ekene said this incident is part of a broader pattern of assault and intimidation experienced by Igbo traders in the hands of these touts and called on the law enforcement agents, the market union and the state government to ensure that the law takes its course against the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
