SHE PAID THE PRICE FOR LOVING ME

"She Paid the Price for Loving Me"

I didn’t grow up with much.

No silver spoon. No roadmap. Just survival.

So when I met her — soft-spoken, educated, full of dreams — I felt like I had won the lottery.

She believed in me before I believed in myself.

Pushed me to finish school.

Helped me get my first job.

Even gave me her savings when my mother fell ill.

She was the kind of woman people pray for — solid, selfless, and loyal.

And what did I do?

I broke her.

Not all at once — slowly.

I let my friends influence me.

I cheated once. Then twice. Then stopped counting.

I made excuses — “it doesn’t mean anything,” “I’ll stop soon,” “I love only you.”

But every time she found out, something in her dimmed.

Still… she stayed.

She’d cry in the bathroom and come out smiling for our guests.

She’d cook dinner, pack my clothes, and kiss me goodbye like nothing happened.

She stayed.

When I lost my job, she picked up a second one.

When I lost my way, she prayed harder.

But nothing ever made me stop.

Then one day, she didn’t cry anymore.

She just… packed her bags.

No drama.

No shouting.

No begging.

Just silence — the kind that breaks bones.

I asked, “So you’re just leaving?”

She said, “No… I already left long ago. My body just caught up.”

It’s been two years now.

She’s thriving.

New job. New city. New glow.

And me?

I still see her in my dreams.

I still scroll through her old pictures.

I still replay our memories like a broken cassette.

I still wear the watch she gave me, pretending I’m not the one who ruined it all.

Funny thing is — she never hated me.

She just finally loved herself enough to stop bleeding for someone who wouldn’t stop cutting.
