The Home We Built Together

When we first got married, our “home” was just a single room with cracked walls and a leaky roof.

No fancy furniture. No television. Just a bed, a table, and the belief that we had each other.

We didn’t have much, but every evening we cooked together—sometimes just noodles and boiled eggs—and laughed like we were dining in a five-star restaurant.

I remember the first time we bought a couch. It wasn’t new; the fabric was worn and the legs wobbled. But to us, it was a throne. We sat there holding hands, dreaming about the future.

Slowly, we built our home. Not just with bricks and paint, but with memories, patience, and love. We saved for months to buy a fridge. We painted the walls ourselves, getting more paint on our clothes than on the walls.

We learned that a happy home isn’t about having the biggest house or the most expensive things. It’s about filling whatever space you have with warmth, respect, and joy.

Today, our home is bigger. The walls are stronger. The furniture is new. But what makes it truly beautiful is still the same thing we started with—us.

Because the happiest homes aren’t built by money.
They’re built by hearts.
